GrandCentral has arrived!

GrandCentral is now Google Voice. I was able to get my beta account converted over to Google Voice account.

While the migration was manual which I kinda pooh-poohed. I had to export my GrandCentral contacts and import it into Google Addressbook, re-record my name and greeting and re-check my settings.

It would’ve been more of Google-like, if they had a big red button in the middle of the page saying “CLICK HERE” and an AJAX response saying “You are now on Google Voice”. There are only two other places I can think of that can make the user experience this easy – Apple and WordPress.

Google Voice definitely steps up and gives us a few more features now that it’s out of beta.

  • SMS – Yey. Now I can get text spam on my Google Voice number. However, no international SMS yet possible (:smh:)
  • Voicemail Transcript – Feature that transcribes voicemails and emails them! Very cool. Me like that.
  • Conference Calling – eh. I have a bridge. But could be useful one day.

Just discovered your post about Blogsome–>Wordpress imports and wanted to say thank you (looks like comments are closed on that post). Just getting started with the import, but that post is going to be a lifesaver. Much appreciated!
