Tin Can Telephone

First our first grade [tag]science project[/tag], my daughter needed to use something recycled. So we bounced around couple of ideas (pencil holder was such a non-science project). What else ?

[tag]Tin can telephone[/tag]!

Out came the kite string, two bean cans and the drill, although the use of drill was kinda a bit overboard, but I needed to feel involved.

Very first streching of the tin can revealed that the knots and the holes did not want any part of each other. So out came the toothpicks to hold the string in place.

Result, a domestic version of this!

Although the phrase “Tin can telephone” is quite famous, I believe tin can is NOT the best material for this. The base is way too thick. May be a styrofoam cup ?
