I have finally decided to move my blog to a dedicated server running, what else ?, WordPress. As I mentioned in that very web2.0-ish redirect message, there was and is nothing wrong with Blogsome. In fact, I find them the single most flexible and free blogging providers out there. Their forums are incredibly active and the support is very good. Why do you ask then I leave them ?
- Allows me to play with themes more easily without worrying about conversions using Smarty
- Plugins, Plugins, Plugins
- I was vulnerable one evening..:) Truth is that I’ve been looking for a good host for a while now.
Who knows, may be I will open up my blog like Simon and a million others with OpenID support! Let the attack begin!

I have just started my blog at Blogsome and are quite satisfied with their service. However, the thing that worries me is that they do not provide any export/migration tool (other than standard rss of course) – so when I want to have my own wordpress installation some time in the future, I have a migration problem. Or do I?
I like blogsome in that respect. Their standard operating procedures allow you to request a SQL dump if you are migrating away. I requested it and was able to import it into my own wordpress install.
The import itself is not a simple point and click. The blogsome is based on a version of wordpress-mu. I will post a small write up on how I did the migration.
