I have been making some progress on fully converting Japanese Cherry Blossom theme, which itself is based on hemingway to blogsome. Took a little while to understand both the theme and the blogsome engine but I am pretty much there.
The test site has the theme active. Some of my own modifications include
- Ajax search
- Category Pages show a list of links with AJAX-enabled content delivery… still working out some little kinks there
- Sortable blocks to re-arrange/collapse the blocks and additionally have a Remember me option
what is NOT working
the main content by design only shows 2 posts. However, due to the hackery involved, I cannot make it honor the tag. It treats it like a singe post page.. Could be really bad. The bright side is that if I have an excerpt defined, it will show that. Which means that I’ll have to have an excerpt for every post now to keep the front page from being ugly. There has to be another way

the category pages are now fully functional. the posts now neatly show the comments as well. Thx to Matt for pointing it out!
