Ready or not – it is here. During the next 3 days, while most of the folks here are celebrating the 4th of July, me and my cohorts will be spending time in our Datacenter upgrading a whole bunch of stuff. Considering that we are closed on Monday and Tuesday - this is a great time to do such things.
Today we finished shutting down about 95% of the datacenter (took about 3 hrs for about 50 or so servers, I may be off in the # of servers) and moved some power connections around. The network guys are taking care of some tangled wires in the mean time.
The big dance starts tomorrow:
- Upgrade EMC CX600 to a CX700
- Upgrade Netapp FAS880c and FAS960c to FAS6070c
- Bring online the new IBRIX segment servers running their Parallel File System
- Bring DMX-3 online to provide storage for the ibrix segment servers
- Move about 3+ TB of data around to the ibrix fs
- house keeping (small upgrades here and there)
How long ? We are gunning for Sunday night to bring the datacenter back online fully! Doable ? Only one way to find out :)
