Just got my verizon fios connection hooked up. Took about 3 hrs for them to run the cables to the side of the house, replace the old NID with the ONT and patch it in my basement patch panel. Nice work over all. And some serious speed. Right now the connection is PPOE type. The dude said that they will switch me over to DHCP in a few days. Gotta watch out for that.
They gave me a DLINK 624 router. Now I have TWO of the same – I was using the same exact model for my network with Adelphia. I managed to get some speakeasy reports before I disconnected the old cable modem

Very cool. How did you get FIOS? Did they approach you about it or is it something like digital cable where you can just ask for it now? The last time I checked it was something they were testing as they were ready in your area.
Go to http://www22.verizon.com/content/ConsumerFios to see if your area has FIOS.. I knew it was coming ’cause they were digging to lay the lines et. al.
Sometimes if you call, they may even tell you when it is going to be available..
