Earlier today, I received my Krugle beta account today – I barely managed to sign up before the servers gave in. To load the sign up page, it took approximately 25 secs. I am yet to see the interface cause their servers are already down (DOH!)
I just tried to access the site, about 6 hrs later and now there is this blurb:
availability
The Krugle search engine is temporarily off-line. Honestly, the demand of the latest beta exceeded our expectations and brought our web servers to their knees. We’re reconfiguring a few things to handle the load better and will be back as soon as we can.b1
b1 ? – what the heck is that anyway ?

Sorry about that. You got caught in a vicious server death spiral triggered by load testing. Try it now — the servers are back better than before and ready for more abuse. :-)

“b1″ is our shorthand for “beta-1″, one of the web servers in our beta cluster. We were testing the load balancer at the time you checked in and had temporarily labeled each of the “we’re offline” pages to simplify our spot-checking. That should solve the mystery.
Echoing what John said – I’m sorry you got caught in our meltdown! While embarrassing, the experience was great for us. Check out the performance now – I think you’ll be pleased.
