UPDATE: 1/20/2006 We have lift off! It seems like blogsome had a lot to do with the technorati indexing problem. Below is Technorati’s response to my support tickets. Also there are posts in Blogsome’s support forums that blogsome’s posts were not getting indexed in technorati, bloglines, google and NewsGator. As of the time of this writing, blogsome has resolved all of those issues. In the mean time, here’s Janice’s (from Technorati) reponse to me:
Hello Rajeev, After further research to see why you are having trouble pinging to Technorati, it seems that when we attempted to spider your blog, it timed out. We noticed this behavior with other blogsome accounts as well. It seemed that Blogsome had some server issues for a while. This also explained the old title showing since we hadn’t been able to access your site to retrieve the new title. I’ve just pushed the spiders out again and it looks like the issue has been resolved. It looks like all is in order and your site has just been indexed and updated. http://www.technorati.com/search/rajeev.name
UPDATE: 1/17/2006 After performing an Andy Dufresne act for about 4 days, sending them 4 emails – I seemed to have gotten their attention. Janice emailed me back with the following reply. Hopefully we’ll get a resolution.
Hello Rajeev, Please accept my sincerest apologies for the delay in getting back to you. We have been investigating the issue with your blog "rajeev.name" not updating since you first submitted your ticket on 1/12/06. It seems that the issue is a bit unusual and is requiring further research and testing, thus the delay in response. We are still working on your issue and I will keep you updated on the progress. We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this and hope to have the issue resolved ASAP. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions. Thank you for using Technorati! ORIGINAL POST What’s going on with Technorati ? Several portions of their services seem to be offline. Blogs do not get indexed. That’s not new. A simple google search on technorati troubles will reveal that I am not alone. People often misunderstand the different services that technorati offers. Indexing a blog is one thing. Claiming your blog and having them listed in their Blogfinder is a separate thing. However, none of these work for me. I tried (rather foolishly), deleting the claim and reclaiming the blog by embedding the code. AND making the post as they suggest in their "step 3". I have to say, the Technorati Claiming process is simply broken. The claim spider never returns with a success OR a failure. All you get is a webpage with a anime gif. Now my original claim is lost and I can’t do a fresh claim. Crap. Mean while, the post indexing continues to be non-existent. I have been manually pinging in addition to the automatic pinging by blogsome. Nope. Nada. Zilch. Zero. Sunna. Technorati is adamant that I have not updated my blog in more than 14 days. I have about 15 Blogfinder tags on my site. Most of them do not make their way to the Technorati database. Try a blogfinder search for netapp. Claims that there are no blogs tagging that term yet. Customer Service: I find myself in the majority here. I too fired off a few emails on these independent issues. Other than a auto-reply, I have not heard from anyone yet. Technorati as a concept: Its a GREAT idea – one we all come to take for granted. But seems like they are struggling to keep up and are running out of time. Are there any other comparable alternatives to Technorati ? Sounds like it is time. Technorati Profile

Unfortunately, QuickClaim feature is not available for blogsome.com. We still have to go thru the claim process. I am not sure what the hype is about w/regards to h/w upgrade. I certainly do not notice it.
It also appears that technorati caches info quite aggressively. I changed my title a bit quite a few days ago and tried deleting the claim and re-claiming it. But it picks up the title from its cache and displays the old one.
May be that’s there the issues are – the spider may be having issues reconciling its cache and not looking for updates.
wonder what they are running under the hood… ?
I had to use the “Quick claim” feature where you just enter your user & password for the blog account. I tried the version you did first, and I had the same experience. Good point about claiming being different then tagging, I had linked them together in my mind.
