What Happens Next ?

Update: 1/15/2006 9:40 a.m.: Looks like the good folks at wp.com are working on it. The importer is disabled

I have a list of >>ALL<< wordpress users on my screen. Now what ?

Wordpress.com import utility allows you to get a list of ALL of its authors. This happens when you are trying to import a non-MT feed into its MT import parser. I shouldn’t do that I know. But I did. I am desperate to find a way to import my comments, not just posts from blogsome to wp.com.

The parser will output this text before giving you the list of all wordpress.com users.

To make it easier for you to edit and save the imported posts and drafts, you may want to change the name of the author of the posts. For example, you may want to import all the entries as admins entries.

Below, you can see the names of the authors of the MovableType posts in italics. For each of these names, you can either pick an author in your WordPress installation from the menu, or enter a name for the author in the textbox.

If a new user is created by WordPress, the password will be set, by default, to “changeme”. Quite suggestive, eh? ;)

What happens next ?
Sounds like I can add them as authors to my blog. But what if the user is already there ? Can I make one of my post’s author to one of them..? Its the matter of importing the right RSS file right ?
